About Sharron Tancred – Mural Artist & Custom Artwork Specialist
“It’s art for the heart and from the heart” Sharron Tancred, 2006
Hello and thank you so very much for visting! This is my story.
Completing your home, to be all it can be, and I mean, beautiful and meaningful and valuable, is one of the hardest tasks to do, but the rewards are so worthwhile!
It is just a learning curve like anything else in life. If you need any help, yell out, I would love to chat with you.
In decorating, it is the beautiful and meaningful bit, that is the hardest, not the shopping, buying or lugging it all into your home, but the recipe to get it right.
If you know the rules of decorating, then the beautiful bit is easier than the meaningful bit. Yes, Sir! That is where most people get stuck.
Which brings me to being honest with you. I am going to open up on why I do what I do, which is, of course, creating artworks that make your space AWESOME and are all about YOU.
Why don’t I make my life easier and just paint whatever is in my head like every other artist out there?!
So, let me delve deep here. I promise not to bore you!
Graphic Designer & Illustrator
Years ago, I was a Graphic Designer and Illustrator; for 23 years to be exact, here, in London, in Ad agencies, design studios and freelancing. My last boss, let me create collages for clients and auctions; such fun! However, after 23 years of graphics, I got bored. Bored! I began to search for something else that wouldn’t waste my skills.
My oldest friend who owned an Interior Design school said Sharron, “do my Interior Decorating and Colour Psychology courses so that you can tailor artworks to homes for Interior Designers!” Wow right!
This was the answer and NOT because I was bored. You see, and now, let me get deeper and theoretical.
I have always struggled with the meanings or the lack of them to my taste, behind so many of the works I saw in the galleries. I found them either depressing, just graphic designs, too aggressive or shocking…. and while much was beautiful it was the relevance factor that got me thinking that there must be a better way for people to have art that they could relate too, personally.
Art to Make Your Heart Sing
So, the idea behind creating art that would make
The other thing I couldn’t stand was seeing people live in ugly spaces. I had learnt how to take a decor, such as it was, and flip it to look terrific with barely anything new with just an artwork or a mural. I’d raid their cupboards! I gave them lessons at their art and decor planning sessions and shook up their understanding of decorating and its rules. Hey, and I wanted to to get photos of my work in far nicer spaces too!
Tailoring the artworks and murals to my client’s homes made it practical… which led to another BIG idea. Offering them experiences in Private Adult or Child Workshops! I hated the idea of people feeling disconnected from art because they didn’t understand it. I think that everyone deserves a beautiful gallery-quality work of art that expresses their personality.
So, the merit of inviting people to come and paint their artwork with me gave me enough joy to want to explode with enthusiasm. It made my life very special when I could share the joy of creating art with my clients, one on one.
Tailored Artworks is born
So, yes, In 2006, Tailored Artworks became my life’s dream, except for my two gorgeous girlies of course!
The other thing that has made me very mad has been that “The art market is notoriously opaque—the cliché is that it is the largest unregulated industry in the world, besides guns and drugs” (Art News Summer, 2016) and clients have little expectation of what to spend on an artwork. I wanted to change that.
With help from one of my dear business friends Orfelia Young, we developed a user pays system so that if all a client wanted was charcoal on canvas with them doing their own fright and design research then that’s all they paid for. The result; astounding. We now have a fair, honest and transparent quoting system many businesses would be envious of.
I built the company with the help of wonderful friends and family who will forever have my gratitude. In March 2015, my inspirational friend Tracie, joined me at my Brisbane Home Shows to help out and guess what?! She got interior design work!
Hear the penny drop!
Working with Interior Designers
I was too busy to help clients with both the artworks and the interior installations. What if I helped them, they helped my clients, and they helped me. That is a win, win, win and so, I invited more designers to work with clients at my Home Shows. Now I collaborate with trusted Interior Designer Decorators who work with my clients and I with theirs, to inspire and harmonise their decors and artwork. Sometimes, you may need more than a DIY décor, and want that professional touch and it’s good to be able to give it without loosing the design vision to another supplier.
We are creating lots and lots of smiles from all sorts of people; young, old, business and residential alike now. I call my work, Art for the Heart and from the Heart and trust me when your art and decor is all about YOU, your heart will glow, and life will feel fulfilled.

More About Me
I am a fun-loving mum of two beautiful girls and wife to an air traffic controller husband. I live in Brisbane, Australia, on a lake near Moreton Bay.
I am outgoing and fun to be around; there’s never a joke or a prank far from my mind! I love a laugh and being silly with my two girls; one should never be too old to be silly!.
I enjoy being surrounded by the green of a rainforest on a good long walk, or out in my rather large garden which I tend when time permits.
I also try to get to the beach (because I love to sunbake!) and enjoy the breeze, the sun, the space and the stillness you can find there or just sit in my favourite lounge chair, watch a long movie and enjoy a few glasses of Merlot! Otherwise, it’s off to enjoy the company of my many old friends and family.
When you are working with me, you will find me professional but relaxed and jovial and full of information and little décor lessons to inspire you. Would you love to create an artwork for your space with me? Give me a call on 617 3491 6400
