Ferny Grove. Exotic Traveller Home Makeover
>> The brief: Kathleen has a vivacious personality, and she loves cooking and entertaining and lives a big, rich life. Meaning, her home had also lived large and was looking tired. One day, Kat saw an Art Wallpaper on our Mural Shop that screamed out to her, “This is you!” Because it said, contemporary classic- and imbued the essence of her soon to be Exotic Traveller Home Makeover.
Kathleen wanted colour, texture and glamour throughout her foyer, stairwell and open plan kitchen-living area. Also, to tie in a very precious hand-cut mosaic called Camilla, made by Sharron’s assistant- Rosie’s mother!
Take a look at the photos before Kathleen’s Exotic Traveller Home Makeover. With an imminent new stairwell, adjoining laundry and butler’s pantry extension underway, it was perfect timing to look at Kath’s style and theme.
>>Our strategy: Taking inspiration from Camilla and our classic Dionysian Feast Art Wallpaper we selected our contemporary Water Sand Splashback mural. Three points of art now. Next, we united the artworks with shimmering Metallic Feature Walls. The beauty of Rustic Gold and Silver Light Metal Trace finishes from the Haymes Artisan Collection corrected the ugly 80’s brown feature wall and the Silver Light created rich contrast.
Check out Kathleen’s joyous face when she saw Dionysian Feast going up in her stairwell. Once the bones of the Exotic Traveller décor were in place, Sharron did her thing. That is, going through Kath’s stuff and discovering what could be upcycled, chucked or carefully rearranged into beautiful, meaningful collections. For instance, reframing a Jesus print, hand-colouring an urn, painting 3 plain white glass pendants for the kitchen and a circular vase to create a hand-cast aesthetic to match her tub chair’s skin upholstery.
As a result, a short shopping list! Rugs, coffee table and a cushion, saving some money. While Rosie was concentrating on our Metallic Feature walls final touches, Sharron styled Kaths décor into a Middle Eastern Bazaar vibe, as the final expression of kat’s lifestyle and personality.
>> The results: Wow. Kat, Sharron and Rosie felt they’d worked as a great team to create the Exotic Traveller style. In fact, Kathleen was so happy, she’s decided to include another Mural Shop product, this time a Robotically Engineered Modern Mosaic for her new Outdoor Water Wall.
