‘Red Bull’ Mural
>> The brief: Andy Irwin from Super People contacted Sharron 7 days before the due date. He urgently needed an artist to hand paint – not spray paint – his graffiti-inspired Japanese street cafe in just two days flat, to compliment Red Bull’s performers stage at The Splendour In The Grass Festival, Byron Bay. Andy was drafting his design en route to the festival which was in itself in construction so anything could go wrong.
>> Our strategy: And it did! Being outdoor Sharron had to forego her time-saving projection technique, hand drawing Andy’s 3M x 15M design. The promised helpers were high school show volunteers, whom Sharron art directed and cleaned up after and in between rain showers, the one wobbly ladder high enough for the job was shared with others – but teamwork prevailed. Finally, Sharron drove back to Brisbane, exhausted while Andy’s team hung streetscape props ready for the party that night.
>> The results: Queues increased from the last show and Red Bull’s sales increased by a third!
