Client Testimonials from Aged Care, Corporate and Designer Collaborations

NORCS (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community) Model Building Design 2023

After a respected colleague in Facility Asset Management told us about Sharron Tancred, we invited her to collaborate with us in the Australian government’s Reimaging Where We Live Design Ideas Competition to test the Final Draft of the National Aged Care Design Principles and Guidelines.
Sharron, an artist, designer and decorator turned entrepreneurial innovator, is a forward-thinking science geek who was already ahead of the principles with her products – including biophilic and salutogenic design! Sharron’s thought leadership in the psychology of the built environment, community-savvy art and dementia-enabling landmarks as design finishes, wayfinding strategies, and signage, met the Principles and Guidelines in a stunningly beautiful and fresh way.  Sharron was able to communicate effectively with our clinical expert, landscape architect, and us as architects, all of which led us to call our team project, “Art House”.   Our collaboration reminded me of Frank Llyod Wright’s words, ‘’Remember the Importance of Art in Architecture.’’  We look forward to working with Sharron again in the near future.

Coolibah Aged Care – 6 Door Wrap Disguises and Bus Stop Mural

”We now have six exit door murals and a Bus Stop in our aged care facility, adorned with the beautiful artwork of Sharron Tancred.  Sharron specifically designed the door wraps for the various locations, and various sized doors, and also tied them into the names of the areas – so in our Banksia House we have banksias!  Even though we’re based in regional WA, Sharron’s facilitation of the process – with her knowledge, understanding, creativity, and experience – well it was like she’d been hear site and in person!  When the artwork arrived, it matched the doors in terms of design and measurements, and was applied with ease (by another professional).  The affect has been so positive for the residents and really lightens the space and removes any anxiety they may feel about the exit doors. Thanks Sharron!”

Clinical Nurse Specialist in Gerontology

“One of my proudest moments within Residential Aged Care management was having the opportunity to work with Sharron Tancred from Tailored Artworks to recreate this exact image of a resident’s family home front door.  The outcome of this was incredible with an observed instant ability of room recognition and a reduction of wandering into others’ rooms. We also observed a reduction in agitation caused by an unfamiliar environment and a reduction overall in the behaviours and psychological symptoms associated with dementia. Working with the family to create and implement this project was a special experience that I am grateful to have been able to do.  Studies have shown a reduction in all categories of behaviours and psychological symptoms associated with dementia with the implementation of personalised doors within Aged Care facilities.  Unfortunately, the demands of the Aged Care staffing crisis and the COVID-19 response put a halt to this project. I do hope to see this as a standardised feature in Aged Care facilities in the future.’’

“Hi Cassie, extremely good feedback on the fireplace mural in Strath. We have had some lovely comments from residents, staff and visitors of how much it has changed the whole atmosphere and made the place much cosier and homelike. One staff member has on three occasions gone to place flowers upon the mantle piece so real it does look! Carmel has claimed the chair by the fireplace as hers and can always be found reading b the fire in Carmels Corner. A great result.”

“Dear Sharron, I just wanted to pass on our appreciation for your recent dementia mural works at McKinley House and Bayside Gardens. Both look wonderful and residents, staff and family have all had nothing but positive feedback regarding them. Many of our residents thoroughly enjoyed watching the work in progress and your professionalism while at the site certainly did not go unnoticed. Your planning also assisted us in communicating with residents and families effectively before the work occurred. Overall, it was a successful project that we are pleased to say will delight our residents! Many thanks and I look forward to hopefully working with you on the same venture for some of our QLD facilities.”

Residents are no longer going for the door, instead they are admiring and walking away from the door.  Certainly, a positive effect and the staff have commented on the positive impact.  Good outcome.”

“Hello Sharron, when we commissioned the painting I wanted something that showed the unique qualities and diversity of our country to be present on our giant map of Australia that you painted. We have visitors from overseas as well as interstate and it has been very gratifying to listen to their comments about the layout and the different interests depicted in your painting. Many photos have been taken by our visitors and it is a very welcome addition to our reception area. Much much better than a laminated topography map of the country! Thank you.”

Art Installation for Westfield Northlakes

Dear Sharron, Westfield Shopping Centre Management at North Lakes would like to officially thank you for your work in relation to the “Faces of North Lakes”. Your professionalism throughout the production and passion to complete the task within a tight deadline was greatly appreciated. The finished product met all expectations and the opening dignitaries had nothing but positive comments on the uniqueness of the project and added value to the new stage 2 development. The result of this initiative has provided Westfield North Lakes with a special “point of difference” and community talking point. The wall continues to provide a meeting point where parents can view the gallery and offers a conversational point as the kids involved in the portraits, grow up with the centre. We look forward to working with you again at Westfield North Lakes.’

It was a pleasure to deal with Sharron from start to finish. We arranged to meet at the newlyweds’ home and from there, discussed size, shape, colours, preferences, style, and budget. I have heard them tell their friends all about it, what it means, and how it works. They love it! Thank you, Sharron!”

Custom Murals for Interior Designer’s Home Renovation

“Sharron and I took Tony and Pat’s tired space to a new level of colour with their favourite Blues and Greens and a touch of the Orange reminiscent of South Africa. I had their beloved lounge reupholstered with modern geometric fabrics, added a new transitional rug, and complimentary white, teal and yellow accessories. My team refreshed the interior’s feel with whitewashed walls and a newly fitted modern kitchen which provided better function and storage along with the luxury of a new stove, dishwasher and statement-piece glass splashback. New shutters, lighting and refurbished floors and stairs set the stage for Sharron’s Artwork, ‘Life on the Meadow’. “Our clients were extremely happy with their newly refurbished home, saying, “We are thrilled with everything and could never have achieved anything like it on our own, so a big thank you! It has all come together so well and we are enjoying it all. Our daughter who returned home from living overseas said that she feels like she is living in a resort with all the changes!… as do we.” A great job, thank you Sharron and I look forward to working with you again for our next client.”

Custom Artwork and Mural Installations for the Home

“Lorraine and I built a modern but uniquely timeless style house, furnished it and completed landscaping but always felt that there was something missing. It was beautiful but not complete. We needed something special on the walls but didn’t know what to do. I guess it was always going to be some art but what. That is when we came across Sharron and that is when our world changed. From just a short meeting she picked up so much about us and our environment and presented us with the solution that was, WOW! How good is this? We had a giant TV Wall Mural and 2 beautifully textured Free Flow artworks to match; a large bedroom collage and a French scenery charcoal! Who would thought our Sharron could have so much talent. The end result was absolutely stunning and we are so proud. It has been a number of years now and I am still warmed by the sparkle she has left with us. Would we use Sharron again? Without a doubt!”

Customised Artwork for Art Niches

“We rented this house in 2013 until we bought it in 2015. We realised then that we needed to put our touch to the house to make it our own. With 3 niches to fill, the thought of having our own artworks came to mind. Commissioning Sharron thorugh our Interior Designer was the best thing we did! We didn’t know what type of paintings we wanted but her process made it come to life easily and intuitively. It’s like she could read our minds. The outcome was 3 beautiful paintings that are not only part of the house but also part of us. Every time I look at the paintings I cannot thank Sharron enough for the work she’s done.”

“When we moved house and were looking to fill its emptiness, we decided it would be an excellent idea to have Sharron back to give us some suggestions and ideas. It has been the best decision we have made for creating the decor and ultimately the harmony in our home. Friends have said it is amazing, and the coolest thing they have seen in a long time. We have created something that’s true of ‘us’ given Sharron’s guidance.”

“Two people with different likes can be challenging, especially when you decide to add something to your home that represents you both! So, into the scene steps Sharron, with coaxing and sketches to guide our journey, and we eventually came up with an amazing design that satisfied everyone and produced what we could only describe as a ‘one-off’ unbelievable showpiece for our newly renovated home. Sharron, you made the process so enjoyable and easy. Thank you!”

Multiple Artworks, Portraits and Stairwell Artwork for a 5 Star Penthouse

“Sharron, I am writing to express just how overjoyed Mailin and I are with your work. You have captured a period of our family’s life rather than attempting a faithful replica of it, which really would have aged in a few years’ time, and the style that you chose for us is truly beautiful. Our interior designer was highly specific about our apartment’s renovation colour scheme and flowing this into the custom furnishing we had commissioned, but you took direction from these and dramatically enhanced them. Your soft and bold style and the juxtaposition of your colours combined exquisitely to create a deep and emotional characterisation of our family. Your large stairwell piece has continued the living area’s theme as a magical depiction that reveals some of the things that our family loves in life.To think that you created this from a series of easy phone calls and a USB stick of photos is quite amazing. The process was straightforward and for me, was a highlight of the journey. I was fixed in my views of the outcome but lacked the formal abilities to express to you how I wished to achieve it. You took inspiration from our conversations, images and colour scheme, and very greatly amplified this introductory brief. It was profoundly enjoyable. I anticipate that you will bring joy through your wonderful talents to the lives of many other families and certainly in our case there is a glass of shiraz on the deck at any time you happen through town.”

“Hello Sharron, as with Paul, I adore ‘Little Treasures’.  It is brilliant and finishes that area (and in fact the house) to perfection. I think its effect was best summed up a  little earlier when my 4-year-old grandson arrived, walked into the family room and let out a squeal. When I looked at him to find out what the squeal was for he was pointing to the painting and said: “Nanna, I love that, it is beautiful”.  All who have seen it totally agree. Thank you sincerely for the brilliant job you did with our Interior Designer. As Paul said, it has certainly exceeded our expectations.”

“Dear Sharron, We love both of our artworks!! You have done a fantastic job with the two big flowers in Rodney’s Joy and love the yellow addition with the green grass! We like the black as this balances and ties the paintings together and if you feel the wine bottles need some defining lines that is fine. Boat houses are good too. We like the black on the table and sails of the boats.. it is all wow! These artworks are both beyond our expectations and hope you enjoyed creating them. Very happy clients, thank you”

“Dear Sharron, I just wanted to send a short note to thank you for the wonderful 3 artworks that you completed for us. You were an absolute pleasure to deal with and the process from start to finish was a very easy and educational one. The paintings are simply stunning and make our home come to life now. All of our friends comment on them, especially your gorgeous portrait of our daughters. I would have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone considering having an original piece of art commissioned.”

She was so amazing to us and helped us make informed decisions and work creatively so as our art would flow through the house. She gave 110% to the commissions at our home. We are so happy at how our house looks now we are asking her to do some more projects for us.”
